The British heavyweight repeated his controversial remarks about being prepared to “kill” Jake Paul during a press event in Miami on midweek.

These statements were first made on the previous day when the boxer was asked if he would show restraint against Paul, replying that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming fight against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has attracted criticism over the risk involved and the physical disparity between the two competitors.

Tyson Fury Calls Joshua a “Classless Loser”

Former world heavyweight champion The Gypsy King labeled Anthony Joshua a “classless loser” for his extreme comments.

But the 36-year-old fighter, explained his stance: “This is what I do, we fight. We have a licence to kill.

“I understand many people don't comprehend it but this is what my job is. I take pleasure in what I do. Whatever happens, happens - as long as my hand is raised, that's what's important, with all due respect.”

He continued, “That's just the mentality we have to have as boxers. I'm unsure if other fighters think that way. Perhaps they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the ring, it's a risky thing. Everything can happen.”

“You wish your adversary leaves the ring in good health, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed aware you just did your job. It was purely professional.”

Jake Paul's Fiery Retort

Jake Paul, a huge underdog in the fight as a career cruiserweight, was equally fiery in his response.

“This is a contemporary combat sport,” Paul said. “I'm ready. I want his strongest punches. I want there to be no excuses when it's all over. We should kill each other.”

Joshua will face Paul, in his twenties, at Florida's arena in a fight many see as a glaring mismatch, with some suggesting it should have been approved as an exhibition bout.

The official fight will be fought over eight 3-minute rounds using regular 10oz gloves, with a stipulated maximum weight for Joshua.

Joshua Says He Was “Brought In to Rescue” Boxing

Despite the graphic language used, Joshua claimed he has been “called in to save” the sport of boxing.

“They want me to put an end to the Jake Paul phenomenon and I understand it and that's why I have to bear boxing on my back in this bout,” he concluded.

The event also had lighter moments, with Joshua laughing as Paul sang ‘London Bridge Is Falling Down’ to him.

The face-off concluded without incident, with Paul striking a bizarre pose before Joshua stayed composed and lightly touched his necklace.

Paul & Joshua Deny Pre-Arranged Claims

The peculiar nature of this bout has led to speculation about its authenticity, including claims that Joshua may be prohibited from scoring a knockout.

“There are no clauses in the contract, Joshua can confirm it. We're going to war,” Paul insisted.

Joshua, sporting a valuable chain, humorously added, “The only thing in the agreement that got my attention was the purse.”

Paul has stated on social media that the fight earnings will be exceptionally large.

Jake Paul first made his name as an digital influencer, gathering a massive social media following.

He has not faced anyone of Joshua's calibre but maintained that his rival would not underestimate him.

“It's smart on his part,” Paul commented. “This could potentially be, and will be, the biggest loss of his career.”

A victory for Paul would be arguably the biggest upset in the sport's history.

It would certainly leave an permanent stain on his record, but the athlete stated it would not spell the end.

“I would come back again, shake it off,” he remarked. “I'll be main eventing again in a couple of years. It is what it is. I'm a competitor in the game.”
